Storage- digitally stored models will free up storage space.
Retrival- models can be viewed instantly, inside or outside the surgery, this saves time on retriving the models from storage.
Communication- a large image of the dental arches makes it easier to discuss the treatment plan with the patient. The 3D files can be sent for further consultation with other specialists or for a second opinion.
Planning- the scanned models can be used for treatment planning, measurements & comparisons of progress and results.
Is it legal?
Yes it is, as stated in the B.O.S. advice sheet No. 24 on
'Orthodontic records collection and management'.
What does the clinician need to send to the Lab?
The Lab require upper & lower models or impressions
together with a bite registration.
What does the clinician receive from the Lab?
A CD with the scanned models & the plaster models.
How does the clinician view the scans?
The clinician can download a viewing programme
either from the internet or from Nimrodental.
Can a 3D model be reproduced back to physical form?
Yes, by sending the 3D file to a Milling, Cintering or
3D printing centre.
How to register & start the service?
Print out a Lab. Sheet from
the Downloads page, & send to Nimrodental.
